A weekend trip to Killington, VT for some snowboarding left us a little time in the evenings for goofing off. Russ volunteered to take the A8 out for some all-wheel drive action, and of course the cameras were rolling. A definite highlight and an excellent way to wrap up a fun day of Veedubbin'. The Hooters Bikini Contest that takes place after the Bustoration Transporter Treffen event during WinterJam in Daytona Beach, FL is simply the topper on the cake after enjoying a nice day of old-school, air-cooled VW automobiles. Last weekend, Steven was invited by a friend to VIR (Virginia International Raceway) for a Track Daze event. Scott Jones, owner of a turbocharged 2008 Volkswagen R32, was on his way to test out his vehicle after it's in-depth and time-consuming mod and tune by a tuning house. This was Steven's first time to VIR, as well as his first time riding along on a road course in a "real" race car (an instructor-owned Porsche 993, full race-setup). All we hear from Steven now is, "I can't believe I've gone this long without experiencing this. I can't wait to go back". Indeed, we can all use more race time in our lives. Despite the cold weather, it was a great two days of racing and filming. Stay tuned for some pictures and an AWOL Short from this trip.

We recently traveled to Daytona Beach, FL for "WinterJam", a 3 day event centered around air-cooled VW's and probably the biggest event held in Florida. For us, it also represented the start of the show season, and was a good time to head down south to warmer climates and hang out with close friends. On our way back we stopped by APR's facility in Auburn, Alabama to see friends, hang out, and also so Steven and Matt could see their new building (Russ and JJ had previously visited). Besides touring the building, causing trouble in the work bays and dyno room, and bothering the techs with our silly questions, most of our shenanigans took place in their race team's hauler toter home. (We would like to take this opportunity to again thank APR for their southern hospitality in letting us crash in there. Much appreciated; don't mind the smell we left behind or the picture above). Stay tuned for some video reporting of our adventures in AWOL Episode 2.

AWOL is proud to bring you our very first episode. What started as a conversation during a ride home from a car show, followed by a chance meeting between the founding members of this project at another car event, has spawned one of the most passionate projects any of us has embarked upon. We are very excited to share this episode with all of the visitors to our site and plan to bring you many more hours of film and fun over the coming year, and beyond. Just Watch.
